About Liv
The long version
Ten years is long enough to watch most of the fitness industry’s fads arrive, get sold very hard, and quietly disappear. It is also long enough to learn what actually works, which turns out to be far less interesting than the fads and far more reliable.
I came into this because I like people more than I like exercise. That is an odd thing for a trainer to admit, but the lifting is the easy part. The hard part is finding the version of training that fits a real life, with a job and a family and a week that rarely goes to plan. That is the part I am good at, and it is the part most programmes quietly ignore.
I am a NETA Certified Personal Trainer and a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach, with specialty certifications in HIIT, mat pilates and fusion training. Those matter because they mean I am not guessing when I put a plan in front of you. They also matter rather less than whether you feel comfortable enough to tell me the truth about how your week actually went.
I am a wife and a mum of two, here in Centerburg. I know what it is to plan a session around school pickup, and to lose a week to somebody else’s ear infection. So when I say training has to fit around your life rather than the other way round, that is not a slogan I picked up at a conference.
Most of the people I coach are women, and plenty of them arrive quietly convinced that the weights section is not really for them. Watching that belief come apart, usually inside a month, is the best part of this job. I am around Centerburg most days, and I like that the people I coach are neighbours rather than names on a list.
If you want to know whether we would work well together, the fastest way to find out is a short conversation. I would rather tell you honestly that I am not the right fit than take your money and hope for the best.
Being straight with you
Who I am probably not the right coach for
I would rather say this before you spend money than after. There are people I am not the right fit for, and pretending otherwise helps neither of us.
If you want a guaranteed result by a fixed date, I cannot give you that and I will not pretend to. Bodies do not run to schedules, and anyone promising you one is selling something. What I can tell you is what the work looks like and roughly how long people usually take to feel a difference.
If you are looking for rehabilitation or clinical care, that needs a clinician. My certifications are in training and nutrition coaching, not clinical practice. I will happily work alongside a physio or a doctor once they have cleared you, but I am not a substitute for either.
And if you want to be shouted at, or weighed every week, or told that discipline is the only thing standing between you and a different body, we will annoy each other. That is not how I coach and it is not how I think.
Everyone else is welcome, whatever shape the last few years have been.
